The Los Angeles community continues to honor the memory of Officer Esmeralda Ramirez, a respected member of the Los Angeles Police Department whose service and sacrifice left a lasting impact on both her colleagues and the public she served.
Officer Ramirez dedicated 11 years of service to the LAPD, where she was assigned to the Pacific Division. She was widely regarded as a professional, courageous, and compassionate officer who carried out her duties with integrity and commitment to protecting her community.
On August 5, 2015, Officer Ramirez was critically injured in a traffic collision while on duty when another vehicle entered her lane. She sustained severe neck and back injuries, leading to years of ongoing medical treatment and care. In 2019, she underwent surgery related to those injuries.
Tragically, complications following that procedure led to her passing on June 9, 2019. She was 49 years old at the time of her death.
Officer Ramirez is survived by her three adult children. Her passing was deeply felt within the law enforcement community, where colleagues and fellow officers continue to remember her dedication, resilience, and service.
Her legacy lives on through her years of commitment to public safety and the impact she made while serving the Los Angeles community. She is remembered with respect, gratitude, and honor for her sacrifice and devotion to duty.
